A lasting legacy of faith
Gifts to the Foundation strengthen the mission and ministry of St. Peter Lutheran Church — in our time, and in generations to come.
Encouraging gifts that strengthen our mission over time
The St. Peter Foundation was formed in cooperation with St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church of Gilberts, LCMS. Our purpose is to encourage and develop gifts that strengthen the mission of St. Peter Lutheran Church and help accomplish that mission over time.
We hold the promise to be biblically sound, to enrich our community, and to meet people’s needs through all seasons of life — here, there, and everywhere, in partnership with the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, Northern Illinois District.
A corporate steward
Foundation funds advance the mission of the congregation with an emphasis on ministry beyond the limitations normally associated with the annual operating budget — making possible what the yearly offering alone cannot.
Gifts on your terms
As individual stewards, members may designate their gifts — directing the use of the substance or the earnings of the fund — so long as the gift is acceptable under the Foundation’s Gift Acceptance Policy.
Faithfully governed
An Illinois not-for-profit corporation, the Foundation complies with all applicable laws, ensures accurate use of designated gifts, and is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from our congregation.
A gift that gives again, year after year
Giving to the church and giving to the Foundation work hand in hand. Both honor God — they simply serve different seasons of the church’s life.
The harvest of a single season
Your weekly offering funds today’s ministry — worship, staff, programs, and the day-to-day work of the congregation. It is essential, and it is spent within the year it is given.
The field that yields every year
Your gift is invested and preserved. The principal endures, and a portion of the earnings is distributed each year — so a single gift continues to support ministry for generations to come.
Beyond the annual budget
Funds mission and ministry beyond what the congregation’s yearly operating budget can normally reach.
Gifts of every kind
Accepts stock, real estate, retirement assets, bequests, and trusts — often with meaningful tax advantages.
Directed by your heart
Connect your gift to the cause you love most, or leave it to the Board to direct where the need is greatest.
Helping grow the missions and ministries of St. Peter
The Foundation connects faithful stewards to the work closest to their hearts — honoring God in support of the mission and ministries of the church.
Church Endowment
Provides for the future preservation and expansion of St. Peter Lutheran Church and helps assure funds for ministry in the years ahead.
Human Care
Meets people’s needs through all seasons of life — caring for our neighbors in the congregation and the wider community.
Missions & Outreach
Supports the community and global outreach ministries of St. Peter, sharing the Gospel here, there, and everywhere.
Continuing Education
Encourages and assists members and church workers pursuing Lutheran education and formation for a lifetime of service.
Gifts may be designated to a specific purpose, or given undesignated for the Board to direct where the need is greatest. The Foundation’s funding priorities are reviewed by the Board from time to time.
